Skippy is a jump rope app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the app, visit getskippy.app or email us.
The short version
- The app has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Everything the app records stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and in Apple Health if you allow it. We never receive it.
- Camera video and microphone sound are analysed live on your iPhone. They are never recorded, saved or uploaded.
- The only personal data we receive is what you send us by email.
Who is responsible
The controller of the personal data described in this policy is Skippy (“we”, “us”), the publisher of the Skippy app and this website.

The Skippy app
The app does not send your data to us or to anyone else. It needs no internet connection, has no sign-up, and contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. What it handles stays on your own devices:
Camera
With camera tracking on, your iPhone's camera reads your body position live to count jumps, recognise moves and give form hints. Each frame is analysed on your iPhone and then discarded. No video or photo is recorded, saved or uploaded. Only the results are kept, such as your jump count and which moves you did. You can turn camera tracking off in the app and count with your Apple Watch alone.
Microphone
During a camera session the app can listen for the rope hitting the floor, which tells single jumps from double unders. The sound is analysed live on your iPhone and then discarded. No audio is recorded, saved or uploaded. You can turn this off under “Listen for the rope” in the app's camera settings.
Motion sensors
Your Apple Watch counts jumps with its motion sensors. The motion readings of a session are stored with that session on your Watch and iPhone.
Apple Health
If you give permission, Skippy:
- reads your heart rate and active energy during sessions, your workouts and activity summaries, and your date of birth (only to work out your age for heart rate zones);
- saves your jump rope workouts and the active energy you burned to Apple Health.
Health data stays on your devices and in Apple Health. We do not receive it. It is never used for advertising or marketing and never shared with anyone. You can change or withdraw these permissions at any time in the Health app or in your iPhone's Settings.
Your profile and history
The app stores what you tell it during setup (your level, what motivates you, your daily goal and training days, which wrist you wear your Watch on, your age and your reminder time) and your sessions (date, duration, jumps, pace, moves, personal records, and heart rate and energy from your Watch). All of it is stored on your devices only.
Reminders
If you turn on reminders, the app schedules notifications on your iPhone. They are created on the device; no server is involved.
iPhone and Apple Watch
Your goal and your sessions move directly between your own iPhone and Apple Watch, using Apple's connection between the two devices.
Sharing
If you tap Share on a session summary, iOS opens its share sheet and you choose where the summary goes. Nothing is shared unless you do this.
Backups
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, the app's data is part of that backup, like the data of your other apps. Apple's terms and privacy policy apply to iCloud.
What Apple shares with us
If you have agreed on your device to share analytics with app developers, Apple gives us aggregated statistics and crash reports for the app. They do not identify you. Apple also shows us how many times the app was downloaded.
Deleting your data
- You can delete single sessions in the app's history.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device.
- Workouts saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.
Because this data never reaches us, we cannot view, export or delete it for you.
